Some Great Ideas On How To Save Money On Flowers For Your Wedding

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

By Gregg Hall Wedding are very expensive occasions, and saving money becomes a challenge. As you look at dresses and decorations, churches and dance halls the dollar signs get larger and larger. Everyone wants to find ways to save a bit of money without cutting too many corners on their wedding. Flowers are one way you can change the amount you will have to spend without sacrificing the beauty. Some people go to extremes with trying to save money by opting for no flowers at all. If you aren’t ready for that big of a sacrifice there are other options to save money. A new trend is to have a single flower instead of a traditional bouquet. Having only one flower does have a bit of romance especially when the bride carries a calla lily which is a very elegant flower. If it is hard for the bride to give up the full bouquet a single flower could be given to each bridesmaid. Once the wedding is over and you move on to the reception the bridesmaids could put their single flowers in a vase to use as a bouquet for the table setting. Silk flowers are another less expensive way to go. You can get them in advance and store until the wedding. After the wedding the silk flowers can be given away or put in flower arrangements to decorate your home. Another way to save on flowers is to use what flowers are in season but then you may need to be a bit more flexible on your decorations. The grocery store and farmers markets are a good way to get a lot of flowers for little money. Grocers buy flowers in bulk making them cheaper and farmers market is fresh but may lack in selection. When doing the centerpieces for the tables you could also consider houseplants, if they are healthy and arrange right they would look very nice. The house plants could be then raffled off at each table and sent home with the lucky winner. Another way to save on flowers is to have the wedding in a park. You wouldn’t need to have many flowers since you could pick a garden area for the wedding. Then you would have the beauty of the flowers without the price. There are so many different ways to save money on flowers at your wedding. Although they are beautiful at any wedding people who attend rarely remember the flowers. When asked guests may remember you dress or the vows or the ring bearer. So when considering the price spent on flowers remember that the flowers are only a part of the wedding decorations. The guests and the groom will all be looking at you so maybe you can spend less on the flowers and splurge on your dress and hair! Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Florida. Dead Sea Salt Soaks Has Proven Results For Charlie Horses And Night Leg Cramps Due To Pregnancy

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

By Laura Thomas I recall a time when I would wake up in the middle of the night holding my leg as tight as I could, not wanting to let my leg go, wanting to beat the leg cramp and yet afraid to move my calf. I believe these cramps started about the time I had reached my 5 or 6th month of pregnancy and they were indeed a nasty part of being pregnant. My doctor told me it was from the extra weight that I was carrying around that caused these cramps. As I was to become heavier- the cramps too would increase.I asked, what could I do? My doctor shared with me several options to try- but what worked best was a soak before bed. I discovered adding salts to the tub made the night go by even easier. The only problem was the salt I was using ( Epsom) was drying out my skin. I tried adding some oils to the bath- but then the tub became slippery and I feared falling might be worst than the dry skin. That is when my doctor suggested using Dead Seas Salts- “make sure you get the real thing,” he said… As I became more and more pregnant- so to speak, I learned about the healing properties of the dead sea. If you’ve had these cramps you can relate when I say, I wanted what ever it took not to have those Charlie horse cramps in the middle of the night, but I was tired of the dry flaky skin. Finally, after a night that was excruciating- I found a distributor that I could order dead sea salt from. I waited daily until the salts arrived- excited about trying out the new dead seas salts, I decided to bath in the middle of the day. The soak was so relaxing and enjoyable that I also decided to re bath that evening and add some lavender to the soak to help me sleep more restful. That night I went to bed and slept like a baby. I was hooked! Did you know the dead sea salts are not only heal and help the circulation get moving…but dead seas doesn’t dry out the skin like other salts. The water of the Dead Sea is unique due to the high concentration of salts reaching 27% compared to 3% in ordinary sea water. The therapeutic properties of the Dead Sea are due in large extent to the presence the percentages of magnesium, potassium and bromide- not found in other salts due to its unique composition. Dead Sea Salts contain more than 15 natural and unprocessed minerals important to health. Based on the composition of the Dead Sea Salt- it moisturizes the skin instead of drying. In case you are interested - here are some question and answers to help you understand more information that may also help you- if you too are waking up with these horrible Charlie horse leg cramps! Tips for keeping leg cramps at bay: Avoid standing or sitting with your legs crossed for long periods of time. Stretch your calf muscles regularly during the day and several times before you go to bed. Rotate your ankles and wiggle your toes when you sit, eat, or watch television. Take a small short walk every day, unless your midwife or doctor has advised you not to exercise. Avoid getting too tired. Lie down on your left side to improve circulation in your legs and help reduce the pressure off your heart. Stay well-hydrated by drinking lots of water regularly. Try a warm bath before bed to relax your muscles. Don’t forget to add the Dead Sea Salts. If you do get a cramp, immediately stretch your calf muscles: Straighten your leg, heel first, and gently flex your toes back toward your shins. It might hurt at first, but it will ease the spasm and the pain will gradually go away. You can relax the cramp by massaging the muscle or warming it with a hot-water bottle. Walking around for a few minutes may help, too. What if the pain persists? If your muscle pain is constant and not just an occasional cramp, or if you notice swelling or tenderness in your leg, call your doctor. In rare cases, a pregnant woman may develop a blood clot, which requires immediate medical attention. This too is another reason why a dead seas salt soak is beneficial it helps increase circulation! It Was Them Against Me!

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Sandy Williams One day, long after my youngest stepson (Nick) had finished high school and was out of the house, I found out when it really became them against me! Back in Nicks junior year in high school, he came downstairs dressed in a suit and tie for school. When I asked him what in the world was going on with that, he told me that his shop class was having a photo taken for the yearbook. He went off to school, as did my other kids, and I really never thought about that morning again. Several years later, my eldest daughter and I were having an experience which involved her driving my car with me as a passenger while she had her learners permit, and she got pulled over by a policeman for running a yellow light. He let her off with a warning, and as we drove towards home, I commented that I was really surprised that Nick made it through his whole beginner driving experience without ever having gotten a traffic ticket. That was when my daughter smirked and said: Well, Mom, thats not exactly true! She went on to ask if I remembered the day that Nick went to school in a suit and tie. She then revealed the true story about that day. Nick had gotten a speeding ticket on the way home from school one day while driving his truck a little too fast. Trying to avoid being punished by parents as well as the law, he (with my daughters/his stepsisters help) came up with the class photo story. Then he went to court instead of school that day, paid the fine for his ticket, came home at the usual time after school and I was none the wiser! The fact that all of that deception went on, and that he had broken the law as well as having skipped school and gotten away with it, was amazing and shocking. But the strongest feeling that rose up in me was not anger, but extreme satisfaction. After years of the big stepbrother being against my biological daughters, those same kids stuck together and turned against me! Hallelujah! My kids, biological and step had bonded into regular siblings without me even knowing! Shortcomings of eVenturizing the World

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

By Burak Fenercioglu Venture capital (VC) people are very lovable. They are the ones giving you the opportunity to say hocus-pocus in the journey of converting your idea into money. So far, VCs have spoilt the North American and West European idea pioneers more than enough. Now, their desire is to make it a global hip. However, it is a big question mark, whether or not, worlds quality of entrepreneurship and venture capital industrys due diligence on this specific topic are good enough. In Boston.com, Mark G. Heesen has brought up a new concept when he was expressing his opinion about the evolving dynamics of the VC business. He said I see a bifurcation in the VC industry. Youre going to have your bigger funds investing internationally. But youre going to also start a lot of very specific funds being targeted to a region or a technology. Were starting to see this, and its only going to grow. Bifurcation is irreversible. As trend and technology are the only two tools that VCs can rely on, regional or technological focus for VCs is an acceptable strategy. They can focus, which will pave the way to better perceive the region or technology over time in order to grasp what is possible. It is also totally understandable that capital owners will look for greater, smoother opportunities which requires less-perspiration to double, sometimes to quadruple their investments. And, apparently, international markets are greenfield opportunities. The problem is, though, there is a high probability that international markets are not ready for such a huge shake-up. To make the story more scary, if not done correctly, global venture capitalism may lead to an infant mortality that will stop dumping of money to the international entrepreneurs when the need and opportunity is there in the future. Timing is everything. John Cook, in his Venture Capital: Venture capitalists who miss and tell article discussing a meeting held by six Seattle area VCs. When they were talking about duds, Seattle VC Keith Grinstein, co-founder of Malibu Networks, said Malibu Networks had promising technology. But it entered the market about two years too early, a problem that led to missed sales targets, higher capital needs and other problems. Two years ago, we couldn’t find a customer, Grinstein said. Today, I read the paper and there must be 100 of them out there. It just kills me. The fact of the matter is, global presence desire of VCs is no different. People are everywhere, ideas and willingness to take them to the next level under the roof of a business too. However, today, VCs should think twice before making promises to the international market as the equation does not only include ideas and entrepreneurs like their incumbent regions but also governments, bureaucracy, lacking intelligence, missing work ethics and many other risks. However, there are decent tools in hand for assessing those risks. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) delivered by GEM Consortium and Global Competitiveness Ranking and Global IT Report from World Economic Forum some of many that tell the gravity of any countrys investment readiness. Once it is satisfactory, other material to be used is Political, Economic, Social, and Technological (PEST) analysis before making any steps. PEST is a framework of macroenvironmental factors. The PEST factors combined with external microenvironmental factors can be classified as opportunities and threats in a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) analysis, both of which, will give VCs a rough groundwork about how investable the company is. No matter how low-hanging fruit an opportunity is, being cautious needs to be the king. Systematic approach is a neccesity in global presence, not an option. Until the global market is ready, the most workable idea sounds like covering overseas through partnerships. Partners need to be reputable vendors of the industry that VCs are planning to invest. A mutual benefit should exist. Also the partner vendor needs to have experience in the region. Forcing established vendors to a journey together for a hot startup, no doubt, will make VCs hand stronger. The fact is, that is signaling a mission statement change for VCs. Joint effort with incumbent vendors is a new thing and some venturers may not enjoy this landscape of doing business. Though, the rules of global success are stiff and non-negotiable. Age Discrimination In Employment Act

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Kum Martin Discrimination is any actions that violate Civil Rights Act on race, sex, religion, national origins, and age. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) prohibits discrimination against any person 40 years old and over. However, if you are public safety employees and tenured college employees, you may be subject to forced retirement. Furthermore, if you are an employee in executive positions at age 65, you may be forced retirement with proper retirement benefits. If your company provides a good retirement plan, it will not go against Age Discrimination in Employment Act. A bad retirement plan will try to find a loophole. So you should read your retirement plan carefully. If you dont understand anything, you should clarify it with your lawyer. You dont want to find out later, when it is too late. In some cases, employers may try to say that nature of a job requires age limitations on employees. You should know that Age Discrimination in Employment Act does not have a lot of flexibility in this interpretation. Employers usually use individual testing to prove job fitness on a case by case basis. Age Discrimination in Employment Act does not apply to federal regulation or stature. So if you are airline pilots, you are mandated to retire at age 60. Furthermore, Age Discrimination in Employment Act does not protect apprenticeships and similar training programs for the youth. Weeding through 100 Free Online Dating Sites

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Erick Shipmon There are some good reasons to choose a free online dating site for your adult dating online services. Pay sites expect a commitment, maybe you are thinking about online dating but are not sure how to go about it or if you will be comfortable. Free online dating sites allow for you to explore the field, learn a little about the etiquette involved, and get your feet a little wet before you decide that dating someone through the internet is right for you. While there are over 100 free online dating sites to choose from, make sure that they are truly free before logging on. Some “free” adult dating sites really mean free sign up, or free thirty day trial, so read the fine print before choosing a screen name. Free online dating services may also be hiding inappropriate people. Unfortunately, because so many of the sites are free, they can not afford the software necessary to run 24 hour a day spot checks on incoming and outgoing emails that pay site have. You may have to weed through some undesirables, on several free sites, in order to find a reputable one. Also, please continue to be aware that people aren’t always who they say they are, especially on free adult dating sites, so do not give out any personal information which might make it easy for these people to find you in person, at first. While this is a concern for all chat rooms on the internet, it is especially important information for you to know if you are logging on to a teen dating service or a Christian dating service, because there are pedophiles and hate mongers out there pretending to be someone else. After researching many free sites, we have found that the most reputable ones are the ones which are the hardest to get into. A long essay on why you want to be involved in online dating is not a bad thing, it weeds out the people who don’t want to take the time to set up a sincere profile, so don’t give up, go through the hoops, read the user reviews, and take your time searching for the right free adult dating website, there are many good ones out there. 5 Top Tips For Hosting Your Website

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By Mervyn Love A website of your own is no longer a pipe dream. If you have even a modest budget there is an excellent range of low-cost hosting options available, some with free website building facilities. The advent of free hosting providers even means that a quite passable site can be within the grasp of almost anyone with an internet connection. First of all, however, you must decide where and how the site will be hosted. The key to deciding what you need in a hosting provider is to understand the nature of the website you are planning to put on the Internet. For instance, if you are posting just a few personal web pages that hardly anybody will access, a very basic, perhaps free hosting service may be just the thing for you. But before you dive in to either free or paid hosting, here are some tips that will help you avoid time wasting or costly mistakes. 1. Uptime Simply put, uptime is time that your site is available for Internet users to access it, browse through its pages, and place orders. For you, uptime means time that you can receive orders and make money. Uptime is generally measured as a percentage - the percentage of time a website is up and available to Internet visitors. In industry terms, the more ‘9s’ a hosting provider achieves in uptime performance, the better. 2. Security If your website will sell goods or services then you will need to collects credit card payments and personally identifiable details from customers. In this case security is of utmost importance. In fact, your customers must feel confident that your site is secure, or you will not receive their business. Security is also linked directly to uptime. 3. Redundancy In addition to security and standards compliance, a good hosting provider will provide adequate redundancy. In simple terms, this means means having more than one of something - multiple servers, multiple firewalls, multiple databases and storage units, etc. In other words a hosting provider with redundant servers, for example, can ensure more uptime because if one server goes down, another can takes over and do the work of the first without losing website performance. 4. Facility Maintenance and 24/7 Monitoring To protect against disaster and other threats, a good hosting provider will maintains a locked, temperature-controlled data center equipped with fire protection and an alternate power source. The facility should be monitored on a 24/7 basis, as should performance details such as server uptime, load, traffic, etc. Monitoring should include an established intrusion detection system to guard against security breach. 5. Technical Support The amount of technical support you receive from your hosting provider is often contingent on the amount you are willing to pay in monthly hosting rates. Some low-cost providers offer no technical support at all, while others in the low-to-mid-cost range offer email or online chat support. Some of the best hosting providers offer phone support (sometimes toll-free, but not always) in addition to online support methods. When browsing the Internet in search of a suitable provider, or turning the pages of a computer magazine, check what they have to say about these five areas of their service and keep these tips in mind before making a decision. I wish you success! Mervyn Love is the webmaster of FortressPublishing.com a website dedicated to helping the internet marketer achieve his/her goals, with resources, links and email courses. Relationship Advice: The Power of Co-existence

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By Jeff Herring What can couples do when they run across an issue where each person feels so strongly that there is no room for compromise? Is this an automatic deal breaker? The good news is that there are times in relationships when both partners feel strongly enough about their beliefs that neither can move nor come to the side of the other person. There are certainly some issues in marriage in which this could signal the end of the relationship. One spouse wanting children and the other spouse not wanting children comes to mind as an example. How to co-exist on an issue In most circumstances, however, couples can simply agree to disagree and move on. They learn to co-exist on the issue in question. I know of many couples who have taken this route on various issues and continue to have a very strong relationship. What can happen over time, after being given the room to each have his or her opinion, is that spouses are able to move into a healthy compromise. But even when couples remain in a co-existing position on an issue they can still have a great relationship. Consider some of these examples: Republican-Democrat, Black-White, Christian-Jew, Vegetarian-Meat Eater, Seminole-Gator, etc. All of these couples have learned how to co-exist on issues that are important to them. Peonies ‘Krinkled White’ and ‘Vivid Rose’

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

By Alan Summers Add Old-Fashioned Beauty to your Garden Peonies have an old-fashioned beauty and longevity that have made them a perennial favorite of gardeners. Before being introduced in North America, they were grown thousands of years ago in gardens across the world. There is evidence that Peonies were used for medicinal purposes in Europe over 2000 years ago and that during the reign of Emperor Yang (605-617) in China they were grown as ornamental plants. Peonies were introduced in North America during the 1830’s and their popularity has only increased since then. This week we are featuring two of our favorite Peonies - ‘Krinkled White’ and ‘Vivid Rose.’ ‘Krinkled White’ ‘Krinkled White’ is a simple and classic Peony - large single, snow white petals around a pillow of rich golden stamens and green pistils. ‘Krinkled White’ is a nice contrast to the more common double flowering varieties. The ruffled-edge, crepe paper-like petals form a bowl shape that can reach 5 to 7 inches across. The stems are straight and strong and do not flop in the garden. ‘Krinkled White’ is ideal for a cut floral display. Easy-to-grow and a prolific bloomer. ‘Vivid Rose’ ‘Vivid Rose’ has large, fully double, brilliant pink blooms that actually glow in the garden! Introduced in 1952 by the renowned Klehm family, it remains a favorite of gardeners not only for its beautiful blooms, but for its delightful sweet scent. The blooms can reach up to 6 to 8 inches across. As with ‘Krinkled White’, ‘Vivid Rose’ also has stiff stems with disease-resistant, crinkled foliage that remains deep green right into autumn. Planting and Care Both ‘Krinkled White’ and ‘Vivid Rose’ are extremely hardy and once established, are one of the longest lived perennials available - lasting for over 50 years! Expect them to reach about 30 inches high, with the stunning display of blooms in the spring. The foliage forms a nice round clump - making the Peonies look more like shrubs than perennials. When cut in the almost-open bud stage, they open in water and last about a week indoors. Do not cut any flowers the first or second year. Be sure to cut faded flowers to prevent seed formation. Early to mid fall is the best time to plant Peonies as it allows time for their roots to become established. Your peony will spend its first year getting established and will not be floriferous. Prefers an area with full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Good drainage is essential. Alkaline soil is a preference but is not essential. Mix lots of compost, such as Chesapeake Blue, into the soil at planting. Fertilize with Bulb-Tone in early spring. When planting, do not put fertilizer directly on the plant roots but into the soil away from the roots. Peonies should be lightly fertilized again after blooming. Plant with the “eyes” exactly 1 1/2 inches below the soil level. Water well right after planting. Mulch with 2 inches of shredded hardwood mulch after the ground has frozen. Remove the mulch in the early spring. Hardy in zones 3-8. Click here to view ‘Krinkled White’ on the Carroll Gardens website. Click here to view ‘Vivid Rose’ on the Carroll Gardens website.
