Depression Cure: Tips on How to Draw from that Higher Power

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Foras Aje In spite of the immense technological advancements and inventions designed to make our lives easier, depression still exists and millions of people are still seeking a depression cure. With all the sources of entertainment around us, depression still lurks in the core of our very existence as humans. Why? Could it be that with all the technology and scientific breakthroughs that we have lost the very essence of our being as humans? That-being a deep connection with the Omnipotent. This may very well be the case. We work too hard, go at neck-breaking speeds in life to get things done and never take the time to relax and draw on the Higher Power inherent within us, it is no wonder over 25 million people in the United states are depressed and consequently seeking a depression cure to end their misery. Coming from a Christian background and adhering to most of its principles in my honest opinion, an answer when asking for a depression cure will be a re-connection with God, by perhaps the most powerful yet easy method that although it is as old as the mountains is still extremely effective till this day: Prayer. Dont approach it by thinking that you have to say some specific verses or a bunch of Thees and Thous. Thats not necessary, talk to your Creator as you would your best friend and let it all out. The next step will be to simply take the time out to relax. Im going to borrow from Yoga folks, and the pose here is the relaxation pose.It involves laying flat on a bed, and consciously breathing deeply and evenly in a ratio of 5:5:5 (inhalation, retention and exhalation). You may do this accompanying a clock or a metronome. Breathe evenly as thus for several minutes, now consciously make auto-suggestions to your body starting from the toes to relax by saying mentally: my toes are hereby relaxed, my feet are hereby relaxed etc Do this working to the crown of your head and make sure every organ you can think of is relaxed by this auto-suggestion. Now the best part, pick one of the following quotes depending on your spiritual beliefs and repeat this to yourself(or heck, pick them all and repeat one after the other) 1. I am that pure consciousness or self. 2. I can do all things through God who strengthens me. 3. They that wait upon God shall renew their strength. Repeat this mantra mentally till it seeps into your subconscious and it literally replaces the negative thoughts you may have about your problems, just as light always overcomes darkness. Now, turn to your right side, breathe evenly again, then arise and approach your day believing that you are refreshed and drawing upon that higher power for a depression cure. Friends, this is very important, that you believe you are healed, just like a child believes the pain felt earlier has been cured by Mom kissing it away. Yes, such a child-like faith is required. Child-like but folks, powerful! Its been written: According to your faith be it unto you (this is a basic law of successful living.) In addition to this, to co-operate with the Higher Power in healing you, youve got to meet this Power halfway. Make efforts to better yourself. Lets get back to the basics folks, exercise, eating right and positive thinking. In regards to a depression cure, you may have to supplement drawing upon that Higher Power with seeking good company, sources of laughter and a wise avoidance of those factors or people that bring you down. A depression cure is within reach, the power which has its roots in the Omnipotent and Unseen is right there inside of you. With the tips above, you can draw from it, solve your problems and lead a depression free life. Empower yourself with a depression cure that works, reconnecting with the spiritual forces around you. Great wonders exist in your mind. Tap into it and win. Foras Aje is an independent health researcher and founder of Bodyhealthsoul.com. What’s with the Shortage of Men? Dating Advice for Women Looking for Love

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Ronnie Ann Ryan Dear Dating Coach, Everywhere I have moved, people immediately tell me there are no available men. When I moved to Oregon at the age of 32 for graduate school, I was immediately told by the local women that there were no men in the town. Then I moved to Seattle two years later and was told it’s really a couples town and the locals aren’t friendly. Later I lived in New York City where the problems of single women are legendary, followed by a move to Connecticut where I was told the state was filled with families and married folks. Now that I’m living in Spain, my Spanish teacher tells me that all her friends lament the shortage of men! My question to you is, how do I deal with hearing that there are no men, wherever it is I’m living? I refuse to move to Alaska and I’ve never once lived in a place where people said, “Boy, are you lucky! This place is crawling with great, available guys!” Thanks, Missing Kisses Dear Missing Kisses, - Everyone said the earth was flat- Everyone said the Emperors new clothes were fine- Everyone said sky lab would fall on our heads- Everyone said the computers would go wacky for Y2K Did any of these things happen? Were any of these things true? No, No, No! In 1987, Newsweek ran an article that claimed a single woman 35+ had a better chance of getting abducted by terrorists than to get married. I think you know which one happened to me. Who cares what everyone says? They dont seem to have a very accurate track record. Lets take a moment to remember a very important philosophical question: Is the glass half full or half empty? Truth be told, either way its the same amount of liquid. The difference is solely perspective. You know of course that whatever we focus on is what becomes our reality. I often quote this Universal principle from Hawaiian Shamanism: Energy Goes Where Attention Flows. The question is Do you want your focus to be “There are no men?” I think not. Good men exist all around and PS, you only need one right? The Universe is an amazingly abundant place so, lets heighten your awareness of the abundant aspects. Try one of these exercises: - Count the leaves on any tree (or pine needles during the winter)- Count the stars in the night sky- Count the grains of sand on the beach- Count the blades of grass in your lawn or the park You cant really count any of these things, and, although each option does have an actual finite number who can get there? Thats the whole point. There are more available men than you can count, regardless of where you live. Heres the real challenge start looking for evidence to prove there IS AN ABUNDANCE. This requires shifting your perspective and preventing yourself from falling back on old habits of noticing lack. Chances are very strong that youll start to notice men that you never would have even seen before. Thats because your mind will be open now to collect new data. And as Martha Stewart says, “Thats a good thing. I hope this answer has opened your mind and inspired you to start noticing the great men that are all around you every day. One woman I know met her husband in WalMart she was walking in and he was walking out. Another met her husband in the dog park where they both walked their dogs. Still another met her long-term partner buying sheets in Bed, Bath, & Beyond. These bits of romantic kismet happen every day, everywhere. What will you do make yourself available and cross paths with your soul mate? Get out there, smile, be friendly, be grateful and aware of the great catch you are, and enjoy the wonderful life you have. This will make you highly attractive, get you out there, and help you cross paths with prospects to sort and find the right one for you. I did it, and you can too. Getting Your Services Used

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Kelly O’Brien Every day I talk with professional service providers who do great work, have a valuable service that really helps peopleand struggle to get their services used as much as theyd like. They get a lukewarm response after an initial conversation while networking, the referrals come in but dont convert to real business as often as theyd like, and they cant seem to get prospects to see them as that much better than other professionals offering similar services. Or they may get some attention from prospects as a result of an ad, published article, or speechbut then the early attention kind of fizzles into phone tag and no real client, in the end. So whats the problem? In most cases, theyre not getting far enough with the prospect to reveal the quality of their workso its not about their professional work. And some professionals DO have decent positioning and credibility-building things in place like client testimonials and case studies on their websites (although the latter — done effectively is rare, unfortunately). There are a lot of things that can go wrong in the marketing and sales process. But in most cases, the key thing I see missing is a decent approach to packaging your professional services. Part of successfully packaging your services means putting what you offer into a variety of formats and “packages” that your clients need, at prices theyll pay. Networking and asking for referrals are a waste of time (or are a lot harder), if you dont have something for prospects to easily buya choice of easy “yes’s” in the form of thoughtfully packaged versions of your services. Real Life Examples that Work Here are some examples to illustrate what I mean. These are simple ways to repackage what typically is only offered as consulting services (whatever your specialty may be). Each format offers your clients a different level of commitment, time, and moneyincreasing the chances that youll find the right fit for their needs: * Weekly Coaching to Get & Stay On Track: Good for prospects who hesitate to take that first step or just need a little encouragement to start small. Great for people who need the structure and discipline of a regular meeting (telephone or in person) to keep on track. * Multi-Hour Strategy Session: Particularly useful if you sell to other businesses. A quick, affordable way for prospects to get specific feedback and new ideas on their existing approach to what you offer. * 1-Day Jump-Start Retreat: A more in-depth version of the idea above. Especially useful if you bring a management team together. * Multiple-Day or Monthly Workshop or Clinic: A different way to impart your expertise and help your clients “learn to fish for themselves.” * Quick Audit: An affordable, finite commitment to let a prospect get a small sample of your approach. Can often develop into a longer engagement. * Strategy + Action Planning: A safe way for prospects to get real value, without buying the whole nine yards. Again, this is a finite engagement that produces a blueprint for future work. * Implementation Services: This is typically the primary service professional service firms offer. To make this more “buyable,” break it into phases and smaller, incremental commitments. * The Round Table: Collaborate with trusted peers to provide a multi-faceted approach to helping your clients. How do I know that these approaches motivate prospects to become clients? Because I use all of them in my practice and they all get results. My business model represents a mix of revenue streams, none of which is tied completely to a traditional consulting model. For more tips on how to get your services used by offering options through creative packaging, keep reading… Give your prospects choices and youll increase the odds they more quickly turn into paying clients. Heres how: 1. Package your services to offer clients have a variety of ways they can work with you. Think small, then incrementally add steps in larger sizes. Before you know it, youll have a range of ways to help your clients. 2. Give each service a catchy title thats all about how your client will benefit. For example, I offer the “More Clients Than You Ever Thought Possible!” Marketing Clinic and the “Maximize Your Online Strategy” Website Audit. Make the title about your clients, not you. 3. “Productize” your services to generate passive income. Record your public talks and sell them as tapes on your website. Combine sets of articles and sell them as mini-books. These are fairly easy, low-cost things to do. 4. Go back to current and past clients with your new range of services and/or product-based solutions. Just because they bought one type of service from you in the past, doesnt mean they wouldnt be interested in new ways you can help them. 5. Make sure your pricing structure offers prospects a range of choices. Make it easy for them to take the first step by offering something small and relatively inexpensive. There’s a lot that can be said about pricing, which I’ll cover in a future issue of this newsletter. 6. Don’t be afraid to spell out your range of services in your marketing materials and on your website. Demystify what you do by offering lots of information, including details of what your clients can expect in terms of deliverables, timeframes, targeted results, and what they need to do to ensure success. 7. The bottom line is to use client-centered descriptions and language. Even though this is about your services, it’s not. It’s about how your clients will succeed and what problems they’ll solve by choosing a particular service. I just can’t emphasize this enough! Experiment with a number of packages and see what works and what doesn’t. Play with the variables: title, size, price, description, deliverables, and so on. You’ve got nothing to lose, but future clients. 2004 TurningPointe Marketing, Inc. All rights reserved. NYC Movers

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Josh Riverside Planning to move into NYC needs patience, tolerance, and gumption. To move successfully in NYC means you need to undertake a lot of preliminary research to ensure reliability, efficacy, and cost control. According to NYC Insider complaints to the Better Business Bureau about movers is not uncommon. What you need to do is contact a number of movers recommended by people you know. Next be sure to ask for estimates and sample contracts. Always make an effort to check out their credentials with the references they provide and with the DOT, State Department of Transportation. Never choose a mover because his estimate is the lowest. Always choose a mover because he is licensed, is professional in all aspects, lays the cards on the table, has no hidden clauses in the contract, answers all your questions satisfactorily, and has been in the moving business for quite a while. A professional mover will always suggest a pre-estimate visit and will never give an estimate based on facts got over the phone. He will suggest that you consider additional moving insurance if the objects being moved are too valuable or fragile. Always pay heed to advice given on packing and scheduling the moving offered by the mover. Well before you begin selecting a mover you need to consider whether you want to attempt handling the move yourself. Calculate the pros and cons carefully before deciding. Very often in the long run hiring a professional is more economical. You must however ensure that the mover has insurance for his workers and trucks; that he will handle the assignment himself and not sub let it; and that there are no complaints against him with the Better Business Bureau. Always insist on a written estimate and guarantees. Be sure to check if he offers discounts for moving in the middle of the month or off season, or if there are special rates applicable because you belong to a certain club or institution. Most movers who are established are members of organizations like LIMSA, Long Island Moving & Storage Association. And, they adhere to the code of conduct drawn up by the organization they belong to. If you make an effort then you can find a mover who will do the needful without giving you any heartache. Are You Marketing with Impact or Are You Forever Invisible?

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Linda Caroll “The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin paleontologist, biologist, philosopher & Jesuit priest; 1881-1955 “It was devastating. My teacher started crying, all the girls started crying…” Jim Johns, Houston; remembering the assassination of JFK on Nov. 22, 1963. A Jamaican woman stopped… legs buckled under her. Clasped her hands and cried, “My son in one building; my daughter in the other.” Jenna, New York; remembering 911; September 11, 2001 Business strategists loudly proclaim the merits of repetition. Yet, from the pages of time, the voice of late author Tryon Edwards softly whispers an inescapable truth; “We rarely forget that which has made a deep impression on our minds.” Neil Armstrong landing on the moon. Bob Hope’s smile. September 11th. The assassination of JFK. Our first love. Moments forever etched in our memories. Not by repetition, but by emotional impact. Ninety percent of websites fail. Eighty percent of new businesses fail. They fail, not by lack of desire or lack of funds, but by lack of impact. Most business owners are afraid to walk the edge. Afraid to stand up and stand out. Afraid to be different. Sadly, the best results that the timid get is to stay forever invisible. Anita Roddick’s vehement protests against animal testing in the name of beauty rocketed The Body Shop to success despite an advertising budget of zero. And Seth Godin’s Purple Cows… and the Starbucks experience, and “googling” people. If you long to be remarkable, but you’re a little short on courage, ask yourself this; What do you stand for? What stirred your heart and led you to the path you walk? Harness the power of what you stand for, what you love - and in the words of a humble Jesuit priest - you shall have disovered fire. The Secret To US Department of Education Loans

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Kessler]Mark Kessler If you have heard about any kind of Federal financial aid for students, you are already familiar with US Department of Education loans. The US Department of Education handles all government aid for defraying the cost of attending college in America, from grants to loans. The first thing that you will need to do to apply for US Department of Education loans is to fill out a FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. FAFSA forms compare the amount of money required to attend a specific college to the amount of money that can be expected to be paid by the family of the attendee. Any difference is the amount of money eligible for student aid. Qualifying for US Department of Education LoansUS Department of Education loans have specific qualifications that an applicant must meet to be eligible. The qualifications include US Citizenship (some non-citizens with social security numbers are also eligible), financial need, possession of a valid Social Security Number, and proof of eligibility for higher education in the form of a high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or similar. Furthermore, applicants for US Department of Education loans must be in good financial, academic, and legal standing. In other words, they must be registered with the Selective Service if required, they must not have defaulted on a student loan in the past, they can have no record of conviction on charges of sales or possession of drugs, and they must maintain a certain grade point average (GPA) to continue to receive student loans from the Department of Education. Types of US Department of Education LoansThere are three main possibilities when considering US Department of Education loans: grants, which are monetary gifts, student loans, and work-study programs where the money for education is earned. Only in the case of student loans does the money need to be repaid. Most federal grants are based solely on financial need, and some are given on a first-come-first-served basis, so it is important to apply as early as possible. Work-Study programs are not technically US Department of Education loans, but they are a federally mandated way to receive financial aid to attend college. A number of work-study hours are specified as part of the financial aid package. These usually involve jobs working with non-profit companies or on campus, and pay a modest salary. The money earned can be used for college tuition. True US Department of Education loans include the Perkins Loan, the Stafford Loan, and the PLUS loan for parents. Perkins loans have a particularly low interest rate and can be paid back over a time period of as long as 10 years. There are a limited number of Perkins Loans available to each school every year. The Stafford Loan has a higher interest rate than the Perkins loan, and doesnt necessarily offer a grace period after graduation. However, there are more Stafford loans offered by the US Department of Education every year. Stafford loans are even available to students who dont have a pressing financial need. Stafford loans may be paid off over a period of as long as thirty years. PLUS loans are the final type of US Department of Education loans. They are offered to parents of undergraduates, as opposed to the students themselves. Payments on Federal PLUS loans start two months after the money is received, and can be paid off over a ten-year term. Mark Kessler’s website offers a comprehensive free resource of college financial aid. Don’t even think about paying for school until you’ve read this about Consolidating Student Loans, as well as Alternative Student Loans, ACS, Bad Credit, and [http://studentloans.seeking411.com]Federal financial aid for students, including a variety student loan articles. DUI Defense, II

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Eddie Tobey DUI defense is regarded as a highly specialized area of law, as it involves a series of scientific procedures including field sobriety tests. DUI cases are very complex and call for tremendous attorney expertise. Driving under the influence (DUI) legally refers to a serious offence caused by drunk driving. Its consequences are severe and may lead to punishments, penalties and stiff fines. Depending upon the nature and jurisdictions, DUI is known by different names such as driving while intoxicated (DWI), operating motor vehicle intoxicated (OMVI), operation under the influence (OUI) and operating while intoxicated (OWI). DUI defense lawyers have to be armed with specific scientific as well as legal knowledge. DUI defense requires the defending counsel to also have a practical awareness of the operation of breath test equipment, hospital testing equipment and instruments utilized by forensic laboratories in the process of testing for intoxicants. A competent and qualified lawyer is aware of all kinds of loopholes, and has the ability to suppress evidence and produce good witnesses. Another point to remember in DUI defense is that the laws pertaining to driving under the influence are complicated and differ from state to state. However, the statutes of all states have the common purpose of punishing driving under the influence of intoxicated substances. Punishments for driving under the influence have become severe in recent years. There is a good chance that there could be a restriction of license privileges for a stipulated period, mandatory minimum jail, and probation and vehicle forfeiture. Loans to Secure Your Future - Secured Loans

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Andrew_Baker]Andrew Baker People are afraid to go for a loan for satisfying their financial necessities. They believe that their bad credit history will deny them from getting the loan. But this is only a myth, with secured loans available in the market, taking a loan after having a bad credit record has become so convenient. Secured loans are those loans that are secured by some collateral or security. Collateral can be any valuable asset. It can be home, car, boat or any other property of the borrower. These loans carry lesser amount of risk for the lender. Secured loans are available under different tags for different purpose. It can be any of the following: Debt consolidation loan loans for combining your existing debts installments in a single debt at low interest rate.Helps to recover from a bad credit. Simultaneously cuts off your monthly expenditure.Car loans Loans for buying you a car, which you always wanted to have.Home improvement loans for the improvement or modification of your home. Credit ratings or bad credit history doesnt affect the approval of a secured loan The terms and conditions are quite flexible and the lender carries a liberal attitude towards borrower regarding repayment The installments are spread over a longer period for the repayment. You need to borrow only that much amount of debt which you can handle. Only the title of the collateral passes to the lender after the loan has been taken but the possession remains with you. In case of any default made by the borrower in the payment of loan or a part of the loan, the lender can force his right of repossession of the collateral. But you should keep in mind to choose a right lender before applying for any loan otherwise you would end up paying a higher interest. Grower Direct Flowers?

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Tenley McDonald Imagine the giggle when your youngest child walks up with their favorite flower stuffed in an envelope. Can we mail this to Grandma? What at first appears to be a bargain may not be a bargain after all. Many online companies are marketing flowers that are drop shipped to your recipient. These flower deliveries have become known collectively as Grower Direct. Low prices have encouraged consumers to sample this new method of sending flowers across the country. Although, many recipients are finding out what gardeners have known for years. When a flower is cut, water is essential for long lasting beauty. A fresh cut flower out of water is a flower dying. Gardeners have also developed techniques to further prolong the life of your flower arrangement. This step-by-step process has been adapted over the years to ensure your flowers last longer than just a couple of days. As growers began to focus on volume, florists evolved for care and handling of your flowers (i.e. processing and design.) Grower Direct flowers lack two important factors that improve the lifespan of your flower arrangement. The flowers are sent inside a box, often deprived of water for a period of up to 24 hours. They also bypass your local florist, whose skilled processing techniques ensure that your flowers will last longer. Dont second guess whether or not your flowers will arrive limp or smashed. Often these boxed deliveries sit waiting on a porch or at a reception center for hours. Flowers should be delivered in water or floral foam to ensure longevity and performance! After all, presentation is the key when expressing your sentiments with flowers. Asking your recipient to arrange their own flowers from a box may not be the impression you are looking to make. A professional florist is your best bet for a beautifully designed fresh floral gift for any occasion. Crossed Wires

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Kenneth C. Hoffman My father always said that I should think before I act but there are two sides to this advice. I was twelve and looking forward to the eighth grade bus trip to Washington DC. For Christmas I received a Kodak Brownie Jr. camera and I bought two whole rolls of film to squander on the trip. It was to be an overnight stay and even though my family owned a summer hotel, this was to be my first real hotel experience. Well, it was a great trip. Some of us even had to sleep in the lobby for dropping water balloons out of a fourth story window. On the bus, after the initial rowdy excitement tapered off, we settled down to sleep. Outside the bus it got dark and rainy, but inside it smelled of wet wool and steam. At one point my buddy asked me what I bought for my parents in the way of a gift. This question shocked me into silence. I had not bought anyone anything, just three souvenirs of Washington DC for myself! The largest item, a bronze replica of the Washington Monument had a thermometer embedded in one side. It cost about nine dollars which was about one half the money I brought with me. Added to the list was a five-color pen from the Smithsonian Institute and a turquoise stone rosary costing eight dollars. I always liked collecting rocks of strange colors and owning five colors in one pen was irresistible. Now I had to decide how to divide the souvenirs among my family. I figured that the Washington Monument had to go to Mom and Dad since it was the biggest and cost the most, and the rosary for my sister, Karen, who was the only religious person in the family. I reluctantly decided to part with my magic pen and give it to my younger brother, Allan. I arrived home at about noon, everyone glad to see me and asking questions. I presented Mom and Dad their Washington Monument gift, remembering that Dad always liked thermometers. Karen was thrilled with the rosary and Allan ran to find some paper to experiment on. Then Mom got a funny look on her face and started crying. She ran upstairs to their bedroom and closed the door. A few minutes later, Dad came storming down the stairs and yelled at me, “Why did you make your mother cry? Where’s that thermometer and come with me.” He raced me out to the back door, got a hammer and smashed that Washington Monument to bits. By this time I was crying and confused. Later, I found out that even though Mom never went to church, she always wanted a rosary of her own and thought I gave it to my sister to spite her. Oddly enough, the turquoise beads turned out to be real and quite valuable. My mom often had feelings of persecution and my dad had a terrible Irish temper. Once for her birthday I gave my mom an oval hand-made rag rug for in front of the sink and instead of thanking me she said, “I know why you bought me a rug, it’s so you can walk all over me!” Me, I didn’t have a clue. My interests include writing, digital art, photography, bicycling and reading. I read four books per week.
