How Nail Treatment Products Work

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By Natalie Aranda Beautiful and healthy nails complete and highlight a elegant hand. Nail cosmetics (manicure, pedicure, or nail polish) is often influenced by current fashion trends, not by the healthy consideration. Chasing for cosmetic nail beauty is also part of the source of common nail problems - splitting, peeling, breaking fungal infections. The new development in nail care industry has introduced the nail care products that style your nails while promoting natural nail growth. A professional nail enamel requires applying three layers of polish: 1) a base coat for good adhesion to the nail plate; 2) a pigmented nail application for cosmetic effects; and 3) a topcoat for preventing nail chipping and the nail polish color from fading. Nail treatment products achieve the same cosmetic effects as the standard nail polish products while adding nutritious ingredients to produce some therapeutic benefit. Since the nutritious ingredients such as silk proteins and calcium are added to the base coat layer and top coat layer, the cosmetic results from middle pigmented layer is as good as the standard nail polish products. The major benefits from the therapeutic system include less nail breakage, strong and health natural nail growth. Some nail care products also help cure nail fungus. Nailtiques and Rejuvacote are two of those products on the market that beautify the nails and have proven to strength your nails for natural growth. Improvement in the nail and hand condition is noticeable after applying Nailtiques daily for two to three weeks. As the result, your nails will be stronger, and your cuticles will be healthier. Selection of particular Nailtique products is based on condition of your nails: Formula One is general nail growth; Formula Two works for weak and thin nails, and Formula Three for dry nails. Rejuvacote, also called the nail doctor, will heal, cure, strengthen and revitalize your nails. The results are also seen in a few weeks. Nail enamel with Rejuvacote works the same as the standard nail polish products 1) applying a Rejuvacote base coat; 2) applying a nail polish product of your choice for cosmetic results; 3) finally applying a Rejuvacote top coat. The top coat provides nutrition to your nails so it is applied daily for seven days. After seven days, you start it over again after removing all three layers of coats with nail polish removers. How to Win a Price War

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Michael Daehn Any economics student can tell you that price is a matter of supply and demand. The market will bear a certain price point and settle into equilibrium. This is not very helpful when trying to determine the price for a new product. Price is a very confusing area of marketing for many people. The reason is probably because price is one of the most misused and abused marketing tools. Traditionally, there are three ways to set the price for a product: Competitive Parity- Charging the same price or average price of the competition Standard Markup- Always adding the same percentage markup to the cost of products (i.e., cost plus 50%) Zero-Based Pricing- Receiving a small margin per item with a high volume of sales The problem with all three of these methods is they do not take into account the customers perceived value of the product. Lets assume you are going to sell hats. The hats cost you $10 to make so you decide to sell them for $15. What if the people buying your hats only think they are worth $5? You are in big trouble. You cannot afford to sell hats for less than they cost you to make, but if that is the perceived value to your customers you will not sell any at $15. On the other hand, what if customers love your hats and would actually be willing to pay $20 per hat? You are cheating yourself out of $5 per hat. So how do you know what people will pay? Do the research before going to market. Either hire a market research firm, or do it yourself if you are on a budget. If people are willing to pay less than your cost to produce the hats, you will be avoiding disaster by knowing this information ahead of time. If people are willing to pay more than your perception of a fair price, you can be even more successful than you imagined. Price Wars Your price must be based on the perceived value to the customer. Price is a double-edged sword, and many companies find themselves falling into the trap of competing on price. Price is NOT a competitive advantage by definition because it can be copied easily and immediately by the competition. Price wars with the competition hurt everyone. Customers will be happy at first because they will get better deals, but be disappointed in the long term when prices go back up or their favorite company goes out of business. Price wars destroy the perceived value of the product in the marketplace. Even if your company wins the price war by undercutting the competition, customers will feel cheated when prices return to normal levels. I went to McDonalds to get my 39-cent hamburger the other day, and to my dismay what had been 39 cents the previous six months is now all of a sudden 79 cents. I felt cheated, but if they had not been 39 cents the week before when I bought them, I would not have felt that paying 79 cents was a big deal. Like millions and millions of other people, I have been going to McDonalds since I was a child. A few years ago they panicked and jumped into the price wars with their competition. This was a mistake. By creating their own value menu, they started looking like everyone else. There is now nothing special about going there because they are just like their copycat competition. I just heard on the radio that McDonalds is closing almost 200 locations. It does not sound like the low price strategy is working. Low price is not a valid competitive advantage, yet companies spend millions of dollars saying they are the low price leaders. Low price has no distinguishing characteristic about it, particularly when everyone is saying the same thing. Companies are also telling their customers to shop based on price. Therefore, if their competition has a lower price, they should go to them. Let me repeat, companies are paying for advertising that tells their customers not to be loyal, but to shop based on low price! Besides encouraging a price war and creating disloyalty, this violates Marketing Key 5: Building Relationships. By telling people that the lowest price is the best criterion for choosing a product, companies are discouraging customer loyalty based on reputation or quality of service. This practice is so prevalent that it is no wonder many people are confused about the proper place of price in a marketing plan. The good news is that after reading this, you now know better than your competition. How to Win a Price War The answer to how to win a price war is to not get into one in the first place. If you find yourself in this situation, find a competitive advantage aside from price to promote then differentiate yourself and focus your marketing promotions on the advantage instead of price. Why do Women Get Attracted to Married Men?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By Michael Douglas The hooked and booked man is like a forbidden temptation. That’s what makes him irresistibly attractive to a woman. He stirs a challenge in her. She feels a sense of power in attracting a man who is already taken. What makes him the catch for her is his confidence, experience and authority. The excitement stems from the fact that he’s already taken. The golden rule here is: you want what you can’t have. Soon, this man becomes an overwhelming obsession for a woman. I call it the ‘forbidden fruit obsession’. According to me, there are two reasons for women falling for married men. Firstly, wild attraction. And secondly, vulnerability. For a woman, a married man represents a certain security she craves. A woman feels that a married man - compared to a bachelor - can meet her emotional and material needs in a better manner. Getting a married man signifies a triumph of one woman over another woman. He’s a trophy catch. To have him, is about making the impossible. If a woman wanted a fling, she could have had it with anybody. But a married man at her beck and call makes her value herself more… that he’s willing to throw it all over for her. It increases her self-esteem. Mind you, she’s enjoying this fantasy, as much as his wooing, his experience and the way he makes her feel extra special. Sometimes, she likes the fact that he doesn’t go weak in the knees in front of her. He’s a symbol of authority. This relationship is about adventure and fun. But this is dangerous fun. There’s a risk of running another person’s life. Married men love playing games. They give out the vibe - ‘I’m married but I’m game’. Married men are always on the lookout for fun. These are men on the prowl. For a woman, it might be difficult to resist the vibes of attraction from a married man. He makes himself so indispensable. A married man can give you a great time. There are times when this forbidden attraction transforms into love and romance, especially if the man doesn’t have a happy marriage. Not all married men are jerks, some even leave their wives and get married to women they love. But the fact is, men and women love playing power games with each other. This is a dangerous game. It can take you through highs and lows, like you’ve never experienced. Human beings are fragile and one learns from trial and error. So it’s you have to decide, whether it is a viable option to have a relationship with a married man. Ear Candling: Is It Safe?

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Lisa Barger Dr. Andrew Weil calls ear candling “hocus pocus” and he’s not alone. Why then, do so many people still believe in a practice that is, at best, useless and, at worst, potentially harmful? Let’s examine the “natural” practice of ear candling. What Ear Candles Are Sometimes referred to as ear cones, ear candles are long strips of beeswax-soaked fabric that have been wound into tight cone shapes. (Some manufacturers add ground herbs or essential oils but this practice is controversial among ear candle aficionados.) After placing the small end of the stiff fabric cone into the ear canal, the practitioner lights the large end of the cone and allows the cone to burn down to within a few inches of the ear. After the cone is allowed to burn down to the appropriate length, the flame is extinguished and the remaining end of the cone is examined for toxins. What Ear Coning Is Supposed To Do For You Proponents of ear candles claim that candling create a “gentle vacuum” that “opens the chakras”. Ear candling, according to believers, can help relieve symptoms of tinnitus, migraine, sinusitis, and more. But think about this for a moment. Ear wax is very, very sticky and your eardrum is fairly fragile. Any “gentle vacuum” that’s strong enough to “draw any impurities to the surface” would have to be strong enough to damage your eardrum, wouldn’t it? Quite simply, ear candling can’t work as its cheerleaders claim. Is Ear Candling Safe? It’s impossible to tell exactly how many people practice ear candling but a 1996 survey of 144 physicians found that these physicians had treated 13 instances of external burns, 7 cases involving obstruction of the ear canal due to melted wax and at least one perforated ear drum. Clearly, ear candling can be dangerous if not performed carefully. Lisa Barger is a traditional naturopath specializing in natural health education. Information Technology - Wrongful Termination of Contract

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Rosanna Cooper In the recent case, Peregrine Systems Limited v Steria Limited [2005] , a customer wrongly terminated an IT contract with its software supplier and as a result had to pay the supplier 700,000 plus interests - the outstanding balance due to the supplier under the contract. The defendant, Steria, terminated the agreement with Peregrine Systems alleging that it was entitled to terminate the contract between the parties as a result of delays and commercial misstatements. Steria also claimed damages from Peregrine. In return, Peregrine brought proceedings against Steria for money owed under the contract. Initially, the Court held that Peregrine had not committed any breach of contract and that there had been no misstatements. The Court also held that Steria had in any event lost the right to terminate the contract because Steria had, by its conduct, affirmed the contract by continuing to use the software. Steria appealed these decisions. The Court of Appeal decided against Steria on both as follows: Due to the wording of the contract Peregrine was only obliged to provide 200,000 worth of services and was not required to fully implement the software. Once Peregrine had provided 200,000 worth of services, there was no obligation to do anything more to complete the project within a reasonable time; A supplier having to perform within a reasonable time does not necessarily mean that the customer can end the contract if this is not done; Steria had not properly communicated its dissatisfaction to Peregrine; and Steria continued to use the software and so acted in a manner implying Steria’s wish to affirm the contract. Comment: This case highlights the importance of contractual parties clearly setting out their rights and responsibilities when entering into an IT contract. Furthermore, parties should act properly when dissatisfied with goods or services and analyse contractual documentation carefully before deciding to terminate an IT contract. Cooking Delicacies Of Your Heritage

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Kimberly Chang Most countries leave their prized delicacies for only the most important events of the year. They may save them for special holidays or for wedding, birth, or anniversary celebrations. However, cooking delicacies should be a priority to everyone in the family at one time or another throughout the year. When you acknowledge and learn how to cook the delicacies of your heritage you are not only preparing a delicious meal for yourself. You are also celebrating where you come from. You are embracing the country and the food of your culture. You are able to taste what your ancestors taste. In addition, when you choose to cook the delicacies of your heritage, you will be teaching your family the traditions as well. Otherwise, your children will likely grow up not even knowing what the delicacies of their heritage are. So, if you want them to be able to pass certain traditional foods onto their family, you will need to show them how to prepare those traditional foods. So, instead of simply letting your culture and heritage pass you by, consider cooking the delicacies of your heritage a few times a year. With the world changing quickly and all of the cultures emerging closer into one, there is little room to forget where it is you come from. If you dont know what the delicacies are, you can start by doing some research. You may not be great at preparing them at first, but the more you practice, the more delicious they will become. Dealing With Disappointment

Monday, January 21st, 2008

By Daniel N. Brown Have you experienced any disappointments lately? What a dumb question, right? Life is full of disappointments. Disappointment is nothing more than dashed expectations. When people put too much expectation on things or other people, disappointment is inevitable. People and things will always disappoint us. It’s good to remember that its not so much what happens to us, but how we handle it. When our expectations become let down, it will be at that moment when we must decide how to react. When things dont prosper or succeed according to our plan, the first thing we feel is disappointment, and this is normal. There is nothing wrong with feeling disappointed. But, we must know what to do with that feeling or it will move into something more serious. The devil would like for nothing more than for us to lie in the pit of disappointment for as long as possible. This way he can cause the seed of discouragement to grow. From there, he will plant seeds of depression, and so on. Here are the progressive evil Ds in order: 1. Disappointment 2. Discouragement 3. Depression 4. Despondency 5. Despair Disappointment, if left undelt with, will inevitably lead to discouragement, then to depression, then to despondency, and then on to despair. Its in despair where people have lost all hope and could eventually commit suicide. If you are still feeling disappointed from past dashed expectations, let me remind you, God is in complete control and He knows right where you are. If we are born again, children of the Most High God, then He takes care of us. Jesus said, Take no thought for your life (Matthew 6:25) and Be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6). God doesnt want us to worry. He wants us to trust Him because He has a perfect plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11). Yes, we are to plan our way but the outcome is totally in Gods hands (Proverbs 16:9). Remember, disappointment is nothing more than dashed expectations. Dont put too much expectation on anything or anyone. People and things are fallible. Only God is infallible. Trust Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, for He makes all things work together for our good according to His purpose for our lives (Proverbs 3:5, Romans 8:28).
